“Belshazzar
Gave a Party” The king of the world
famed city,
Babylon, with hanging gardens,
Gave a party to magnify himself
Against the living God of Israel.
It was a great feast which the king
Gave to his officers of state, family
And concubines. The wine flowed,
While the party roared in wickedness.
In wanton madness and excitement
By wine, the king desecrates the
Temple vessels from Jerusalem
By drinking from them in madness.
The use of the vessels was to insult
The living God before his gods.
In celebration they sang songs
Of praise to the vanity of the gods.
But that very night the king was
Assassinated and Babylon had fallen.
God’s glory and might will not be
Tolerated; that is a sin of sins.
