The Cocktail Party
Belshazzar’s party was a
Scene of debauchery and
Licentiousness as alcohol
Flowed freely; a beastly scene.
He knew that his grandfather
Nebuchadnezzar came to the
Knowledge of God and praised him;
Yet he defied and profaned God.
He, that being often reproved
hardens his neck, shall suddenly
be destroyed, and that without
remedy. Proverbs 29:1.
But they cloaked their sin as
An act of worship and veiled
Their blasphemy in the name of
Religion honoring their gods.
While the party was raging, They
Drank wine and praised the gods
Of gold, and of silver, of brass, of
iron, of wood, and of stone, but
The mysterious, disembodied
Hand of God writes on the wall,
And the king’s face turned pale and
His knees knocked together.
