Poems on the Book of Daniel by Rex H. Henderson

 True Servants of God

The king of Babylon besieged
Jerusalem and carried away
The brightest and finest of the
Youth, but they were not led astray.

Daniel and his friends did not
Fit into the secular place,
But remembered their homeland,
Their temple, and their God of grace.

Their Hebrew names were changed,
And new names were given in part
To false gods. But the king could
Not change their godly hearts.

They refused the king’s beer-belly
Menu to make them like the rest.
They refused the king’s meat and
Wine, and were better than the best.

Youth devout we need today who
Believe in God and will not stray.
Who stand for Christian principles
And never their God betray.
