Poems on the Book of Daniel by Rex H. Henderson

   A Young Person Decides

Daniel at the youthful age of sixteen
Was plunged into a godless society
Far from home in Babylon,
A World City of impiety.

But Daniel resolved not to defile
Himself with the royal food and wine,
And refused to partake of the king’s
Menu, and chose their own for dining.

They fared better than the king’s men,
And were chosen to enter the king’s
Service, Now  Daniel could interpret
Visions and dreams and many things.

Would you have acted as Daniel did?
You say that was a small concern.
Small things can win great victories
How great a lesson to learn!

Christian young people want their lives
To count, and God will fulfill their dreams
If they determine to live for him.
And Daniel was greatly esteemed.
