Ezra & Nehemiah: Restoration & Reform

Ezra means "JHVH (Jehovah) has Helped" and originally formed one work with the books of Chronicles and Nehemiah. Ezra probably wrote the book soon after returning to Jerusalem from Babylon, or between 456 and 445 B.C. The purpose of his writing was to document God's faithfulness to His promises.

There were three returns of the exiles: Zerubbabel in 537 BC, Ezra in 458 BC and Nehemiah in 445 BC.
