 PSALM 110

The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool. The LORD shall send the rod of thy strength out of Zion: rule thou in the midst of thine enemies. Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power, in the beauties of holiness from the womb of the morning: thou hast the dew of thy youth. The LORD hath sworn, and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek. The Lord at thy right hand shall strike through kings in the day of his wrath. He shall judge among the heathen, he shall fill the places with the dead bodies; he shall wound the heads over many countries. He shall drink of the brook in the way: therefore shall he lift up the head." (Psalm 110, KJV)

Psalm 110

Our wonderful Priest and King

The writer, David, describes the appointment
Of the Priest-King, his followers, his battles,
And His victory. It is the most quoted of all
The psalms.  Are you acquainted with it?

The Father appoints his Son Jesus Christ
As the High-Priest of our profession, and
As a divine king who sits at the right hand
Of God engaged in extending his spiritual rule.

Jesus is both Lord and Christ. When preached
The people cried out, “Brothers what shall we do?”
Peter answered, “ Repent and be baptized, every
One of you; in the name of Jesus Christ…”

In the day of battle Christ’s followers volunteer
To service made willing through grace received.
Isaiah said, “Here am I. Send Me.”  Time is running
Out in which to reach people for Christ.

In His judicial reign, God will destroy those
Who oppose His deity.  “He will rule them with
A rod of iron…and dash them to pieces like pottery.

His enemies will become His footstool.
