 PSALM 149

Praise ye the LORD. Sing unto the LORD a new song, and his praise in the congregation of saints. Let Israel rejoice in him that made him: let the children of Zion be joyful in their King. Let them praise his name in the dance: let them sing praises unto him with the timbrel and harp. For the LORD taketh pleasure in his people: he will beautify the meek with salvation. Let the saints be joyful in glory: let them sing aloud upon their beds. Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a twoedged sword in their hand; To execute vengeance upon the heathen, and punishments upon the people; To bind their kings with chains, and their nobles with fetters of iron; To execute upon them the judgment written: this honour have all his saints. Praise ye the LORD.(Psalm 149, KJV)

Psalm 149

Praise the Lord in Song

From the dark, heart-breaking
Bondage in Babylon, God led
Israel back to their home in Zion.
They sang not, but now they do.

They sing a new song of praise
Like all who have been saved by
God’s grace. Old songs won’t do.
We praise God with a new heart.

“Sing, oh, sing of my Redeemer
     With his blood he purchased me;
On the cross he sealed my pardon,
Paid the debt and made me free.”

God’s singing saints sang with great
Joy about him and his grace. But
Now do little singing because of
Not knowing God any better.

We are saved “By the blood of the
Lamb”
by turning to God in faith.
Now overjoyed that we are His,
We sing new, joyful praises to Him.

Do you have a new song to God’s glory?
Well, don’t be sad, one day you will
Sing a glorious new song in heaven,
One composed just for the saints.
