 PSALM 47

To the chief Musician, A Psalm for the sons of Korah.

O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph. For the LORD most high is terrible; he is a great King over all the earth. He shall subdue the people under us, and the nations under our feet. He shall choose our inheritance for us, the excellency of Jacob whom he loved. Selah. God is gone up with a shout, the LORD with the sound of a trumpet. Sing praises to God, sing praises: sing praises unto our King, sing praises. For God is the King of all the earth: sing ye praises with understanding. God reigneth over the heathen: God sitteth upon the throne of his holiness. The princes of the people are gathered together, even the people of the God of Abraham: for the shields of the earth belong unto God: he is greatly exalted.  (Psalm 47, KJV)

Psalm 47

The King of the Earth

The author calls upon the whole earth
To give glorious praise and honor.
It’s time to celebrate. Come before
Our Lord in humble, Kingly candor.

         “Muse awhile, obedient thought,
           Lo, the theme’s with rapture fraught;
           See thy King, whose realm extends
          E’ven to earth’s remotest ends!

          Gladly shall the nations own
          Him their Lord and God alone;
          Clap their hands with Holy mirth,
          Hail him MONARCH of the earth.

          Come, my soul, before him bow
          Gladdest of his subjects thou;
          Leave thy portion to his choice,
          In his sovereign will rejoice,

          This  thy purest, deepest bliss,
          He is thine and thou art his.”
        “Sing praises to God, sing praises;
         sing praises to our King, sing praises.”
