 PSALM 53

To the chief Musician upon Mahalath, Maschil, A Psalm of David.

The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity: there is none that doeth good. God looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, that did seek God. Every one of them is gone back: they are altogether become filthy; there is none that doeth good, no, not one. Have the workers of iniquity no knowledge? who eat up my people as they eat bread: they have not called upon God. There were they in great fear, where no fear was: for God hath scattered the bones of him that encampeth against thee: thou hast put them to shame, because God hath despised them. Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! When God bringeth back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.  (Psalm 53, KJV)

Psalm 53

Fools and Faith

“The fool hath  said in his heart, There
is no God.”
Being a fool he speaks
To his nature. His progress is rapid,
Riotous and raving. What a freak!

The atheist says there is no God.
Which means there is no law, no order,
No restraint to lust, and no limit
To passion. What a disorder!

They are corrupt. Their hearts are foul.
Their moral nature decayed.
With minds warped and twisted like
That, no wonder God is so abated.

“Let Zion’s foes be filled with shame;
     Her sons are bless’d of God;
Though scoffers now despise their name,
    The Lord shall break the rod.

Oh! would our God to Zion turn,
    God with salvation clad;
Then Judah’s harps would music learn,
    And Israel be glad.”
