 PSALM 70

To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David, to bring to remembrance.

Make haste, O God, to deliver me; make haste to help me, O LORD. Let them be ashamed and confounded that seek after my soul: let them be turned backward, and put to confusion, that desire my hurt. Let them be turned back for a reward of their shame that say, Aha, aha. Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: and let such as love thy salvation say continually, Let God be magnified. But I am poor and needy: make haste unto me, O God: thou art my help and my deliverer; O LORD, make no tarrying.  (Psalm 70, KJV)

Psalm 70

May God be Exalted

Two elements make up this chapter:
The urgent stress of the writer’s plight,
And the prayer, “Let God be exalted.”
David knew what God does is right.

He is in serious trouble and God’s
Help is needed immediately,
If not sooner. “Come quickly.”
It’s urgent! He’s suffering greatly.

His enemies were not only mocking
Him-“Aha! Aha!”  But they were seeking
To take his life. The powerful king
Who reigned for forty years, but running.

“A man after God’s own heart.”  Installed,
Blessed and approved by God, but he
“was stuck in a pit,”
And might die.
“Hasten, come quickly to me.”
What a plea!

Some feel rich and proud, and have no
Need of God. But what about you?
Have you felt like David did? Pray.
And God to be exalted through you.

“Do not be anxious about anything,
but in everything, by prayer and petition,
with thanksgiving, present your requests
to God. And the peace of God, which transcends
all understanding, will guard your hearts
and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
