PSALM 123

Unto thee lift I up mine eyes, O thou that dwellest in the heavens. Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress; so our eyes wait upon the LORD our God, until that he have mercy upon us. Have mercy upon us, O LORD, have mercy upon us: for we are exceedingly filled with contempt. Our soul is exceedingly filled with the scorning of those that are at ease, and with the contempt of the proud. (Psalm 123, KJV)

Looking Upward

This psalm, short in words, majors on
The fervency of the spirit, with eyes open
Toward heaven, looking above the hills
To the Lord himself for mercy.

If we would repent, we must look to Him.,
In humbleness, look to Him, for true love,
Look to Him, for forgiveness of sins
We must lift our eyes to Him.

Obedient servants look to God,
reverentially, obediently, continuously, submissively,
expectantly, and imploringly, to His chastening
Hand if we experience forgiving mercies.

Having suffered long by unceasing
Ridicule, violence and oppression,
Scorn and contempt with severe trials,
They cried, “Have mercy on us, O LORD,”

“Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
    Look full in his wonderful face,
    And the things of earth will grow strangely
    Dim in the light of his glory and grace.”
