Silence and Thunder

Already John has seen the instruments
Of judgment, the demand for it, terror
Of the wicked, and provision for
God’s people during judgment.

The trumpets are to announce the
Next happening, But there is a
Silence of breathless expectation,
A trembling suspense and reverence.

The silence of Heaven’s music
And the thunder of revelation
Is stilled while the whispered
Prayers of the saints go up.

A man may be sin stained, with
No sacrifice to bring to God, but
Prayer is an excellent sacrifice
On the altar of sincerity.

The prayers of the saints return
To the earth in wrath. And there was
Thunder, lightning and an earthquake,
A partial judgment to wicked men.
