Two New
Mission Churches Completed in Honduras
Christians
are worshipping in new mission buildings in Zapotillo and Las Acacias.
Jesus said, "All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth. Go
therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name
of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all
that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the
age" (Matthew 28:18-20).
Alpha and Omega Baptist Mission at Zapotillo
The Alpha and Omega Baptist
Mission at Zapotillo began with contacts made when Wil and Ann Pounds took a
medical-dental-evangelism team to this rural town in 2003. In January 2005
Wil followed-up on two school teachers who made decisions for Christ in
Zapotillo. They said, “We want a Baptist church here in Zapotillo that
preaches the same thing you preached when you were here with the
medical-dental team.” As a result of this visit in their home, Juan Alberto Herrera began visiting this rural town and showing gospel films in open air
and held evangelistic services. Saul and Zulema Sabillon returned home to
pastor this mission. This group of believer continued to grow but was forced
to move from one mud brick house to another. In November 2006 Wil sensed the
Lord leading him to provide the funds to purchase property to build the two
mission churches in Zapotillo and Las Acacias.
We praise
the Lord for His provision of the funds to purchase the property and for the
construction of these two Baptist missions.
We give a
heartfelt thanks to the many individuals and churches that made themselves
available to the Lord to work through them to make this mission outreach
possible.
Here are pictures of the Zapotillo building under construction in
January 2008.
Pictured below is the dedication service at Zapotillo on February 4,
2008 with the pastor Saul Sabillon.
The
Lord provided funds for the construction of two missions at the same time!
Alpha and Omega Baptist Mission at Las Acacias
The ministry at Las Acacias began with Bible training for pastors and church
leadership courses taught by Wil Pounds at Alpha and Omega Baptist Church in
Danli, Honduras. One of the students in our courses started seven home Bible
classes in this subdivision. Juan Alberto and deacons from the mother church
have showed gospel films in open air and continue to preach evangelistic
services in open air. We will follow-up on this new mission with the
evangelism workshop and evangelistic teams.
Pictured below is the construction of the Las Acacias Baptist Mission in
Danli, Honduras during the month of January 2008.
Here are pictures of the dedication of the Las Acacias Baptist Mission on
February 7, 2008.

Our goal is to evangelize, disciple and provide local
pastors or church leadership with the basic knowledge and skills that are
necessary to effectively fulfill their biblical responsibilities in the
local church.
Pray
that our Honduran pastors and church leaders will be led by the Spirit to
the locations where God is at work, and that we will be sensitive to the
leading of the Holy Spirit in each of these ministries.

Pray for three evangelism

q
We have prepared one-day Evangelism Workshops for churches in Latin America. These are patterned after the personal evangelism course we teach
pastors and church leaders, but are shorter. This course has proven to be very
practical and effective in personal evangelism. It was first used in Ecuador and Honduras. The vision for training rural pastors began with this course in mind while
serving as a missionary in Honduras.
q
Juan Alberto Herrera Ministry
Alberto has faithfully served 18 years as a contract worker with mission teams.
We
agree
with him that it is God’s will for him to serve as a full-time evangelist and
pastor. Juan pastors a Honduran Baptist Convention church in Danli. He is
our Director for Pastor and Church Leadership Training in Honduras.
Juan
Alberto Herrera is an evangelist and pastor of Alpha and Omega Baptist Church.
