How Shall They Hear Without a Preacher?

Peniel Seminary Pallatanga Course onf Gospel of Matthew

Peniel Theological Seminary Pallatanga Extension Students in Gospel of Matthew

"'Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.' How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher? How will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, 'How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news of good things!'" (Romans 10:13-15).

I cease to be amazed at how God the Holy Spirit arranges the events in our lives when we follow His leading.

Alejandro Guacho is my driver in Ecuador. I rent his worn out, broken down, four tire (never a spare) pickup for two weeks. He is a Quichua pastor in Riobamba, a graduate of Peniel Seminary. We are now in our fifth year of serving the Lord together. Ann reminded me yesterday that Alejandro is like Pablo in Honduras, faithful to the Lord and kindred in spirit in ministry. His first passion is Christ and His kingdom.

AAlejandro did not make it to the airport Friday night to pick me up at midnight. He was still in Riobamba, tied up with some family matters. I took a taxi to the hotel.

Abide in Christ personal evangelism with Quichua pastors

Alejandro and Otavalo Quichua Pastor

Saturday morning he left Riobamba for the capital city of Quito, a four and half hour journey. Along the way he stopped at a traffic light and picked up an Otavalo Quichua who asked for a ride. The two men started witnessing to each other. The hitchhiker was a Christian and Missionary Alliance pastor in a new start up church in Lake San Pablo. He witnessed to everyone he met. He did not want members of other churches to join his church; he wanted lost people to lead to Christ and disciple.

Alejandro told the pastor where he was headed and what he and the "missionary" were doing the next two weeks. The Otavalo pastor asked why we could not come to Otavalo early each morning and teach in his church and then return to Quito for the seminary classes. It sounded reasonable. The trip from Quito to Otavalo is two hours. On Wednesday through Friday we went to Otavalo, taught three hours and scurried back to Quito to teach the Peniel Seminary classes on the Historical Books in the Old Testament. It was a good full day teaching from nine in the morning until ten each night.

There was a sense of being the right person at the right time in the right place. God arranged these encounters.

During the two weeks I taught eternal security and justification by faith in the Otavalo church, and the Historical books of the Old Testament in Quito, and then travelled to Pallatanga and taught and intensive on the Gospel of Mathew at the seminary extension. I had previously taught these same students courses on Salvation, Christian Ethics, and Personal Evangelism.

One of my students in the classes in Pallatanga is a pastor in a community on the main highway to the port city of Guayaquil on the Pacific coast. The church has an FM radio station. It is the only radio station in the area that covers a four hour trip along the highway that descends the mountains at 13,000 feet above sea level toward the Pacific coast. The station is bilingual, Spanish and Quechua. The station needs programs in Spanish. Alberto Copa told the pastor, "Don Wil has radio programs in Spanish." Today, the station began using my five minute Spanish radio programs twice a day in the morning and evening. What an unexpected blessing! Missionary Radio Station HCJB provided training and technical help for the station.

I also preached at the Genesis Bilingual Church on our Kinsman Redeemer from Ruth and how Jesus is our nearest of kin who is qualified to be our redeemer. Jesus has the right to redeem us. He is free of the sin debt because He knew no sin. He has the power to redeem us, and He is willing to redeem us. Our redemption was complete the moment the price was paid in full by His atoning death.

Thank you for making it possible for us to continue this teaching ministry of Abide in Christ.

what you can do

Partnership missions give you an opportunity to become personally involved in what God is doing in world missions. Pray daily for the work in Honduras. Give financially.  We are a faith mission and are dependent upon your financial gifts. Please pray about becoming involved in the support of our mission. "As long as the Lord provides I will give $25  $50  $100 $___ a month."
